As you approach a bend, if you turn the steering wheel too sharply and you rotate the car more than intended, the rear end may begin to slip or "fishtail." When this occurs the car is said to oversteer.
At the same bend, if you do not turn the steering wheel enough and you do not rotate the car as much as you had intended, the car is said to understeer.
Oversteer and understeer conditions may result in skidding, loss of control, accidents, and injuries.
DSC is an electronic stability control program that helps stabilize the car in an oversteer or understeer situation, automatically intervening to help prevent skids and loss of control by reducing power from the engine and applying the brakes to individual wheels as appropriate.*
DSC can also help you maintain acceleration by preventing wheelspin even on surfaces with uneven grip, such as where one wheel is on a patch of ice.
DSC can provide the maneuvering capabilities needed to help avoid other cars or road hazards while enabling drivers to achieve maximum braking from the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).
